Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins, the Leader of the New York State Senate Democrats, received the unanimous endorsement of the executive board of the Hispanic Democrats of Westchester County for her re-election to the 35th Senate District. The Senator is running in a primary election on September 13th. Her district includes parts of the cities of Yonkers, White Plains and New Rochelle, all of Greenburgh and all of Scarsdale.
“The Executive Committee of the Hispanic Democrats of Westchester County unanimously and enthusiastically endorses Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins for re-election”, said co-chair Robin Bikkal. “Senator Stewart-Cousins has always been a friend and a champion of causes that benefit the Hispanic Community. From her establishment of the County Human Rights Commission to standing up against Donald Trump and his inhumane immigration policies, to her leadership in passing the toughest gun laws in the nation and raising the minimum wage, Senator Stewart-Cousins has proven herself an inclusive leader we can depend on. We strongly believe that her ascension to Majority Leader of the Senate will greatly enhance the lives of Hispanic families in Westchester.”
The Hispanic Democrats of Westchester County is a political organization whose mission is to “empower and educate the Hispanic community of Westchester County. In their endorsement, they cited Senator Stewart-Cousins’ leadership as reasons for their support.
“I would like to thank the Hispanic Democrats of Westchester County for their support in my primary election. I have been privileged to partner with members of the Hispanic Dems throughout my career to advance issues that are important to both the Latino community and all of Westchester County. Whether it’s immigration policy, job creation, small business development, public education, the DREAM Act, housing, criminal justice reform and so many other issues, I have always been committed to standing up for the Latino community and creating opportunities for all people to thrive. Today, with President Trump in office, my commitment is more steadfast than ever. I am looking forward to partnering with the Hispanic Democrats of Westchester and all members of the Latino community next year as the Majority Leader of the New York State Senate,” said Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins.
